Butch Cassidy (Cass )
1988 - 2006

I purchased the greatest bargain of my life in 1988 at a pet shop in Australia for the princely sum of 2dollars (approx.70p )

I named him Cassidy (Cass) and my Golden Retriever at that time Sundance (Sunny) to commemorate one of my all time favourite movies ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’.

Cass was my devoted companion for 18 years. As each new puppy came into our lives he kept a low profile until he felt the time was right to assert his place in the family. As each puppy grew he became on mutual face licking terms with each of them, and when treats were on offer he was afforded pride of place at the front of the queue.

In 2000 he joined me in England via Surfers Paradise, Brisbane, Sydney, and Malaysia and endured 6 months in quarantine in Pocklington Yorkshire where he was cared for extremely well. The mutual feelings of missing each other was relieved by his loving owner camping out with him in his cage on many occasions and the occasional treat of fresh meat from the village butchery didn’t go down too badly with him either.

At 17 years of age he was diagnosed as needing a bilateral thyroidectomy which was performed by our very competent lady vet.

Cass was then a new man and we had another wonderful year together full of love and companionship.

Sadly on 15th January 2006, Cass made his final journey over the Rainbow Bridge where I am sure he has joined up with the many Golden Retriever friends he made over the years.  I know he will be happy to see them again and to watch over them for me till we all meet up in the future.

In loving memory of a very dear, faithful, and loving companion who will be very sadly missed
